Siddhartha Lal’s Journey with Eicher Motors
Siddhartha is succeeding in the role of Executive Chairman following the retirement of Chairman S. Sandilya. He joined Eicher Motors in 1999, and since then he has been associated with the company. Lal contributed to the tractor division and established the company’s geographic information system. At the age of 26, Lal became the CEO of Royal Enfield. Siddhartha Lal was recognized as the EY Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018 for his extraordinary contributions to the automotive industry.
Lal expressed his gratitude by saying, “On behalf of the entire Eicher family, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Sandilya for his outstanding guidance and leadership over the past five decades.” He continued, “After more than 25 years at EML in various capacities, including as the MD and CEO, I am now looking forward to the opportunity to reinvent my role. Along with taking on greater governance and board responsibilities, I will be deeply engaged in shaping EML’s long-term vision for the decades ahead—guiding the company’s strategic direction while continuing to drive consumer insights, brand development, next-gen technology adoption, and product innovation.”
Under his leadership, he enhanced customer service and product upgrades and made cost-cutting measures that transformed Royal Enfield’s brand image. With his strategic vision, Royal Enfield entered the mid-sized motorcycle segment.
FY25’s third quarter results show Eicher Motors’ net profit rose to 17.5% from last year. The company has generated revenue of around Rs 4973.1 crore, which is 19% from operations. VE Commercial Vehicles have also reported the highest third-quarter revenue and profits, summing up to selling over 21,000 vehicles.
Lal’s approach focuses on customer-centricity, innovation, and quality. His deep understanding of the automotive industry has led to enormous success for Eicher Motors.
