SBI Cards and Payment Services appointed Salila Pande as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective 1st April 2025. The current MD and CEO of the company Abhijit Chakravorty is set to bid goodbye on March 31, following the appointment. Pande is appointed for the next two years.

Salila Pande has over three decades of experience in the banking sector. She joined the State Bank of India (SBI) in 1995 as a probationary officer. She became the Chief General Manager at SBI in July 2024. Throughout her corporate journey, Pande has led many leadership roles. She has given her contributions to the growth of the bank and excelling its operations. 

Pande holds a postgraduate degree in physics, building a strong foundation of analytical skills. She further enhanced her skills and knowledge by becoming a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) from the Global Association of Risk Professionals, USA. her exceptional skills in the banking sector reflects her banking operations and financial management expertise. 

The leadership is being transformed in the company as Abhijit Chakravorty approaches towards superannuation from SBI in March. SBI cards have achieved significant milestones under his leadership. And with Pande’s appointment, her expertise will lead the company to success. Her experience with the company will bring valuable insights to the SBI card. 

The transition in leadership comes as Abhijit Chakravorty approaches his superannuation from SBI on March 31, 2025. Under Chakravorty’s guidance, SBI Card has achieved significant milestones, and the board anticipates that Pande’s leadership will continue this trajectory of success. Her extensive experience within SBI is expected to bring valuable insights and strategic direction to SBI Card.

Following the announcement, SBI Cards and Payment Services shared a slight decline of 0.56%. The minor fluctuation occurred as the typical investors reacted to the transition period.
