On 20th January 2025, Reliance Power Ltd appointed Neeraj Parekh as the new CEO and Executive Director. He will serve in this position for a three-year term, made by the Board of Directors of the Anil Ambani-led company. Parekh has been working with Reliance Power and Reliance Infra for over two decades now. Under his leadership, the power company of Reliance has grown massively.
Neeraj Parekh’s Journey
Neeraj Parekh completed his B.Tech degree from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur. Neeraj Parekh later acquired knowledge in business administration from Welingker Institute, Mumbai.
In June 2004, Parekh joined Reliance Group as the Additional Manager in Reliance Infrastructure (Reliance Infra). Over his tenure, he has taken up several challenging roles and made significant contributions to the company. He oversaw the planning, project monitoring, technical services, and project execution. Parekh became one of the important persons in both Reliance Power and Reliance Infra as he steadily advanced to more maintenance and operational roles.
Parekh’s contribution to Reliance
He has been associated with Reliance for over 21 years now. With a total of 29 years of experience and 21 years with Reliance, he delivered some major projects like Yamuna Nagar, Hisar, Sasan, and Damodar Valley Corporation, as well as many renewable energy ventures like solar PV and solar CSP.
Parekh’s contribution to the power sector has been commendable over the years. He reduced the company’s imports by localizing the procurement of power plants and mining projects. He became a versatile professional who managed technology selection, vendor localization, regulatory compliance, and leading cross-functional teams. He ensured smooth operation by building a network of local vendors, which will benefit the company in the long run.
The Reliance Group added on to the appointment of Neeraj Parekh, with his knowledge and leadership improving Reliance Power in technology, procurement, and contract management. Over the time, he has built excellent relations with the stakeholders. His collaborative and assertive leadership style fostered team growth and development in the company.
