Following the death of business tycoon Ratan Tata, his half-brother, Noel Tata, assumed the role of chairman of the Tata Trust. And the Tata family is stepping forward to strengthen their legacy. The Ratan Tata Institution has appointed Noel Tata’s daughters, Leah and Maya Tata, to its board of trustees.

An internal rift arose due to a new appointment.

Leah and Maya Tata are reportedly replacing the departing trustees, Arnaz Kotwal and Freddy Talati. Freddy Talati complained to his fellow trustees about how they are asked to resign in order to assign new trustees.

Both Leah and Maya Tata are actively involved in the Sir Ratan Tata Industrial Institution, according to an official familiar with the situation. The Sir Ratan Tata Trust has now nominated them as its new trustees.

The other board members of the SRTT unanimously approved the appointment of Leah and Maya Tata. Some prominent names are Noel Tata, Vijay Singh, Venu Srinivasan, Darius Khambata, Jehangir H., and Mehli Mistry.

SRTT holds the authority to nominate three out of the six board members of SRTII, as per the Trust Deed. Noel Tata’s daughters, Leah and Maya Tata, replaced Freddy Talati and Arnaz Kotwal.
