Devyani International Limited is set to acquire a controlling stake in Sky Gate Hospitality Pvt Ltd, the parent company of Biryani By Kilo. Devyani International has franchises all around India of global quick-service restaurants like KFC, Pizza Hut, and Costa Coffee in India. This is a strategic move that aims to amplify the DIL’s presence across the Indian food service sector.

In the regulatory filing, DIL announced that the board will convene to finalise the agreements of the acquisitions on 24th April, 2025. Additionally, the company plans to issue equity shares to finance the purchase. The other financial details are undisclosed. But the acquisition highlights the DIL’s dedication to diversifying its portfolio beyond the international fast-food chains.

Biriyani by Kilo was founded by Kaushik Roy and Vishal Jindal in 2015. They specialise in serving freshly dum-cooked biryanis in a traditional handi form. Their biryani incorporates flavours from different regional styles, such as Kolkata, Lucknowi, Hyderabadi, and Guntur. The chain has 100+ outlets across 45+ cities of India, growing at a massive rate and catering to millions of customers.

DIL has 900+ KFC outlets and over 580 Pizza Hut outlets in India, Nepal, and Nigeria, reported of December 2024. The company also has 190+ Costa Coffee cafes and 70+ Vaango stores all around India.

This acquisition will create a partnership; DIL’s operational excellence and Biriyani by Kilo’s strong brand identity will help to amplify the brand even deeper in India.
